Force: Definition
A force is that which can cause an object with mass to accelerate. Force has both magnitude and direction, making it a vector quantity. According to Newton's second law, an object with constant mass will accelerate in proportion to the net force acting upon it and in inverse proportion to its mass. An equivalent formulation is that the net force on an object is equal to the rate of change of momentum it experiences. Forces acting on three-dimensional objects may also cause them to rotate or deform, or result in a change in pressure. The tendency of a force to cause angular acceleration about an axis is termed torque. Deformation and pressure are the result of stress forces within an object.

TIPS FOR SPECIAL EXAMS: TME-201
EME-102 consists of two subjects
(i) Engg. Mechanics
(ii) Strength of Materials
ENGINEERING MECHANICS:
Statics: Main area will be
Vector Resolution
Lami's Theorem, Concepts of Moments, Theorem of Transmissibility of
Forces, Varignon's Theorem, Concepts of Friction,
VECTOR RESOLUTION:
A vector can be represented by the sum of two or more Vectors
Important Questions:
(1)State and prove Lami's Theorem. If the resultant of two vectors P
and P is also P, find the angle between them.
(2)What do you understand by a Force System? Classify them.
(3)State the theorem of transmissibility of a force? Explain it by
proper example.
(4)What do you understand by the term "free body diagram".Explain it
with a proper diagram.

THE RESULTS OF 2nd SEMESTER B.TECH 2008
Atlast the 2nd Sem results are out, and it's quite dissapointing to see a lot of students got supplement.
Basically TME-201 Mechanical Engg proves to be a disaster for a lot of Students,
particularly for those who rely on CRAMMING to pass the exams.
Lack of proper concepts led the students on the brink of the disaster. B.TECH is not a course where one should rely on CRAMMING...
Appearing in the exams without concepts is nothing but HARAKIRI.
